DOXA Expands Specialty Casualty Footprint with Acquisition of Jupiter Underwriting Group

FORT WAYNE, Ind.— April 2, 2026 — DOXA today announced the acquisition of the Jupiter Underwriting Group, a Florida-based managing general agent (MGA) specializing in admitted umbrella and follow-form excess liability. This acquisition aligns with DOXA’s growth strategy for 2026, enabling the organization to expand and offer more resources in the specialty casualty space while continuing to invest across a broader portfolio of specialty insurance sectors.

The Jupiter Underwriting Group, founded in 2019 by insurance industry veterans David Folkes and Dennis Burton, focuses on underwriting complex risks across various sectors, including:

  • Contractors
  • Hospitality
  • Real estate
  • Import/export
  • Light manufacturing and fabrication
  • Oil and gas specialty contractors

“The hard work, discipline and dedication that David and Dennis have put into building the Jupiter Underwriting Group are the exact characteristics we look for in partners,” said Kevin Wall, president of DOXA. “That character, paired with the Jupiter Underwriting Group’s deep expertise in underwriting and powerful relationships across the market, make them perfectly aligned with the DOXA community. The Jupiter Underwriting Group is recognized as a high-quality platform with a differentiated approach in excess liability and we’re thrilled to welcome their team to DOXA to support our rapid expansion.”

The Jupiter Underwriting Group represents an AM-Best A rated insurance carrier.

Its success has been driven by deep niche underwriting expertise in difficult classes of business which has led to strong carrier and reinsurer relationships and a loyal customer base.

Folkes has a track record of building and scaling platforms across retail and wholesale brokerages, carriers and MGAs, while Burton brings more than 30 years of casualty underwriting experience, including senior leadership roles at well-known carriers.

“DOXA stood out as a partner that not only brings capital, but a clear understanding of how to grow specialty businesses the right way,” said Folkes, Managing Partner of the Jupiter Underwriting Group. “Their platform, relationships, and shared mindset around disciplined growth made this a natural fit.”

Following the acquisition, Folkes and Burton, who have a combined 60 years of insurance experience, will remain in place leading the Jupiter Underwriting Group with DOXA and offering strategic support.
